BEC Darwin is one of 130 Business Enterprise Centres operating throughout Australia, all of which deliver community based business services to the communities they serve.
It is a not for profit, industry based private sector organisation, which provides free business training, advice and referrals to providers of practical advice.
"To foster the establishment and development of successful new businesses in the Northern Territory, through the provision of business advice, referrals and training, especially to those people starting or newly started in business."
BEC's services are specifically targeted at those intending to start a new business or those just started in business. It aims to meld private and public sector interests to provide business services at the community level. It gives independent unbiased advice, seeks answers and fosters new enterprises.
In this way BEC endeavours to enhance the economic development of the Northern Territory.

Joanne has over 20 years’ experience working in the airline, motel management and marketing arenas. She aims to assist and enhance business performance and is particularly passionate about start-ups and the tourism sector.
Business Advisor, Central Australia - Grant Whan Specialising in Tourism
Grant was born in Alice Springs and has thirty years experience working within the tourism industry. This includes owning and managing a business for five years as well as fifteen years working in commercial business management. In addition, Grant has five years experience working in Business and industry development for both Tourism NT and the NT Government Department of Business.
Administration Officer - Clare Corfield
Clare has extensive experience in office administration in community-based organisations. She also knows what it is to be a sole trader, having operated a market stall for many years. She reckons there’s no better place than sitting beside a camp fire somewhere in the Territory’s outback.

Joy has had 20 years experience as an Administrative Assistant both in the Commonwealth, Department of Finance and the Department of Health and Community Services with the Northern Territory Government.
