Glenys Clarke from Darwin Kitchens and Cabinets jumped at the chance to build a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) compliant system into the 21 year old family-owned business. “I’m finding the program really good,” says Glenys. “Very informative and well tailored to small businesses.”

The program consists of four workshops:

  • Work Health and Safety
  • Risk Management
  • Environment
  • Quality
“Work health safety can be a really dry subject matter but this program has been presented really well and delivered information in a logical format. There are so many different areas that covered by different legislation so it’s good to have this systematic approach to it.”

“Although we’re yet to roll this out fully in the workplace we have started implementing a few things, such as meetings with the staff about HSEQ. The program has given me plenty to tools, knowledge and support to implement our own legislatively compliant system.”

The program, delivered by UNO Management Services, also includes 10 hours of tailored coaching from mentor Kirsty McInnes to support the integration for each business.

“As part of the risk management component of the program we developed a risk register with our tradies, as they have the working knowledge of the
equipment. Having Kirsty walk through our workplace, see our individual situation and provide us with specific advice is probably the most beneficial part of the whole program.”

“I can see that having a HSEQ system will have really big benefits for our business. It should keep our staff happier and safer.”
